The purpose of this extra credit assignment is to get you thinking about what is the best computer money can buy. And by that I mean a lot of computer for a limited amount of money. I will give you a range somewhere between this semesters tuition cost and this weeks clothing allowance. Maybe thats not a good estimate because for some of you they amounts are the same. So lets just say about $2500.00, but try to come as close as possible.

What you will do is go on the web and find ads for computer parts to build your dream machine. Maybe not your dream machine but something you would be proud to say "I built this". I will give you a shopping list below and you will find web sites that sell these parts put the links on your paper with the prices and a brief description of the part.

Your shopping list will start with a brief (one paragraph) description of what you are going to use this computer for and why you need all of this raw unleashed power cursing through your keyboard. Under the paragraph you will have bullets for the shopping list with the part name a brief description (10 words or less) the web site where you found the part and a price. At the bottom of the list you will have a total that should come close to the $2500.00 range. The reason for this assignment is that anybody can call Dell and say I have $2500.00 what will you give me for a computer. The people at Dell will say we have a special this week on the R2D2, and you will say WOW I got to have one of those bad boys, without ever knowing what you are paying for. Hopefully this assignment will give you some insight into what you are paying for, and maybe not paying to much for a computer that will be obsolete in 3-5 years, if not less.
